~Good news for BRAC families (In State Tuition)
MD Daily Record- 7/7/08
The Maryland Higher Education Commission announced it will make college financial assistance available to civilian families who are relocating to Maryland because of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, and they will be eligible for in-state tuition in most of Maryland’s public four-year universities, beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year. Under new guidelines approved by MHEC, the time required to meet Maryland residency requirements — at least 12 months preceding the first day of class — will be waived for U.S. Armed Forces civilian personnel and for defense contractors whose positions are transferred to the state as a result of BRAC. The waiver will also apply to spouses and children.
